Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1000 g moučných brambor (typ C) Peel and cut into pieces
  • 300 g hrubé mouky Coarse flour
  • 2 tsp sůl For boiling water
  • 100 g mletého máku Ground poppy seeds
  • 80 g moučkového cukru Powdered sugar
  • 100 g másla Butter, melted

Equipment

  • Pot

Method

  1. Peel and cut the potatoes, then boil in salted water for about 15 minutes until semi-soft.
  2. Drain the water into a container. Sprinkle the potatoes with flour in the pot, make several holes down to the bottom with a wooden spoon, and pour in about 200 ml of hot potato water. Cover and let steam on very low heat for about 15–20 minutes until the potatoes soften and the flour cooks through.
  3. Drain any excess water and thoroughly mash the potatoes and flour with a wooden spoon until smooth. Add reserved water by tablespoons if the mixture is too thick.
  4. Melt the butter. Use a spoon dipped in butter to shape the mixture into oval škubánky. Sprinkle with ground poppy seeds and sugar, then drizzle with some butter.

Notes

Feel free to adjust the amount of sugar and butter to taste. Serve as a comforting main dish or a sweet treat.
